Mont Saleve

The Mont Salève offers a impressive panorama over the Geneva aggregate Jura mountains, Annecy Lake, Lake Geneva,the Prealps and Mont Blanc. It is used for leisure time activities by the inhabitants of Geneva due to its proximity to the city (for this reason it is often called the “mountain of the Genevans”).

Geographically, the Mont Salève is a mountain of the French Prealps located in the Haute-Savoie department, but geologically a part of the jura mountain chain.

Those days around 1887, a steam-powered tram ran directly from Geneva to the foot of the Mont Salève. After Seven years, travelers could change there and board the adventurous carriages of the electric cog railway that climbed along the rock face to the ridge.

Transfer to Mont Salève , climb the French Countryside Road with beautiful sightseeing and reach the Tibetan temple.

Visit the Tibetan Temple (Shedrub Choekhor Ling Monastery)

Visit inside temple. Take some unforgettable photos front of the temple, the panoramic view of Lake Geneva, its Jet d’Eau water fountain, international organization, and the whole surrounding area an essential part of any trip to Salève. His Holiness the Dalai Lama and was awarded name “The Garden of the Wheel of Dharma for Education and Practice.”

Explore the Mont Salève

From temple you can do a small hike to the highest point of the Salève to have an even better view. You can see Activity lovers do rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, hang gliding, model aircraft, Nature lovers will enjoy the fresh air, the fauna and flora and the stunning vista of Geneva. On the south-east side, you can enjoy a view of the Alps with the Mont-Blanc massif and View of Lake Annecy.

Food lovers can meet at the restaurant. You have restaurant the L’Observatoire, which is more familiar type of food and there is also another place to have snacks and drinks. Still if you are favourite for good homemade picnic, which you can enjoy outside admiring the superb view!.
