Mont Saleve
The Mont Salève offers a impressive panorama over the Geneva aggregate Jura mountains, Annecy Lake, Lake Geneva, the Prealps and Mont Blanc. It is used for leisure time activities by the inhabitants of Geneva due to its proximity to the city (for this reason it is often called the “mountain of the Genevans”).
Geographically, the Mont Salève is a mountain of the French Prealps located in the Haute-Savoie department, but geologically a part of the jura mountain chain.
Those days around 1887, a steam-powered tram ran directly from Geneva to the foot of the Mont Salève. After Seven years, travelers could change there and board the adventurous carriages of the electric cog railway that climbed along the rock face to the ridge.
