Sigiriya, known as the 8th world wonder, is an ancient palace and fortress complex situated on a rocky plateau in the Matale District of Sri Lanka. Built by King Kashyapa I in the 5th century AD, the site is renowned for its ruins, which include the palace ruins, fortress ruins, ancient gardens, ponds, and frescoes. Sigiriya is also known for its iconic Lion Rock, a huge rock formation that rises dramatically from the central plains.
